Pike River Road Conservation Easement

Ken Kraft, a longtime Michigan Tech professor in biology, spent his life replanting the native forest on his property and cultivating a passion for diversity and conservation. Before his passing in 2014, Ken generously donated an easement on his property to ensure his property remains undeveloped in perpetuity. The property consists of approximately 46 acres of substantially undeveloped and high quality natural land and is noteworthy for its diversity of forested and aquatic habitats for a relatively small parcel, including a manmade pond and an unnamed perennial trout stream. Dozens of mammal, amphibian, reptile, and bird species live or visit the property for its undisturbed habitats
