Stakeholder Notification/Public Notice
For Accreditation Renewal of the Keweenaw Land Trust
Five years have flown by and the Keweenaw Land Trust is applying for accreditation renewal. A public comment period is now open where you can comment on the work of the Keweenaw Land Trust.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Together, land trusts have established a set of guidelines for how to run a land trust responsibly: Land Trust Standards and Practices (the Standards). These guidelines describe how to operate a land trust legally, ethically and in the public interest, with a sound program of land transactions and land stewardship. The Keweenaw Land Trust voluntarily adopts the standards and practices of the Land Trust Alliance to assure our members and donors that their support of our conservation work will last forever.
Find out more on the Land Trust Alliance site.
The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how the Keweenaw Land Trust complies with national quality standards. For the full list of the 12 standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
