Want to roll up your sleeves and help us out?
We’d love your involvement! There are plenty of opportunities to help our work in many aspects of land conservation, stewardship, and creating opportunities for people to connect with nature.
"When presented with the question of why I want to volunteer for the Keweenaw Land Trust, the answer is very simple—it's a great opportunity to be part of an organization that values the land, promotes conservation, and works to prevent over-development and urban sprawl.
I moved to the Keweenaw because of its unique environment, wide open spaces and vast natural resources available to explore, and the Land Trust is working to protect and preserve the very way of life I envisioned. As a volunteer, I can be part of that preservation effort-helping to ensure that the Keweenaw, with all its natural beauty, will be available for future generations."

Many Ways to Help
Do you have a unique skill set? Volunteers with experience in ecology, botany, geology, history, birding, title searches, surveying and boundary marking, geographic information systems (GIS), mapping, and photography can help with baseline documentation and monitoring of our Nature Areas and conservation easements.
Love working outdoors? In the field, volunteers may build trails, work on restoration projects, help control invasive species of plants, and encourage native ones.
Prefer to work from home or in the office? Volunteers work on our newsletter and website, record-keeping and thank you letters, art and design, write grant proposals, and help with events. Attorneys, appraisers, and surveyors may offer free or reduced-fee professional services.
Looking to gain experience or build your resume? Volunteers may serve as interns and learn about all aspects of running a land trust.
Short on time, but still want to help? Many volunteers also donate materials and supplies to the Keweenaw Land Trust. Check out our wish list of most-needed items.
