Third Thursday Volunteer Workday - September
Day: Thursday, September 17th
9 am–noon at Pilgrim River Community Forest
5:30–8:30 pm at Paavola Wetlands
Join the KLT "stew crew" to help manage buckthorn at the Pilgrim River Community Forest in the morning, and Paavola Wetlands in the evening.
Directions to the Pilgrim River Community Forest (From Hancock):
- Head South on US-41, across the Lift Bridge
- After the Yooper Loop, turn Right onto Bridge Street and head up the hill
- At the 4-way flashing light, continue straight through Hurontown
- After 0.5 miles, turn left onto Paradise Road
- In 1.6 miles, Paradise and Pilgrim Roads meet. The trailhead is on the western side of Paradise
Road just behind the guardrail where these two roads converge. A small sign will help guide
you to the trailhead
Directions to Paavola Wetlands (from Hancock):
- Head North on US-41 towards Calumet.
- Stay on US-41 for about 4 miles (1.6 miles north of the blinking traffic light by Quincy)
- Turn Right onto Paavola Road before the junction of Boston Road, Pontiac Road, and US-41.
- Make an immediate left onto Mesnard Location Road, follow to the end and continue onto No. 9 Road (cut off from US 41 summer of 2020)
- Continue on No. 9 Road for 0.9 miles. The main Paavola Wetlands parking is a half-circle drive on your Left with trailhead & outhouse.
