Highlights

Thanks to the generosity of Suzanne Stevens, the public can enjoy this gorgeous nature area that features a stretch of Boston Creek. Shale outcroppings jut out over the creek as it rushes over rocky substrate and small cliffs, creating little waterfalls. In the summer of 2025, KLT received a Destination Development grant from Visit Keweenaw to improve the site and ready it for the public. Thanks to the generosity of Visit Keweenaw and a hard working group of volunteers led by Mark Roberts, a significant stretch of wooden boardwalk, a bridge, and stairs were built on sit using four tons of lumber. Many volunteer groups including the Michigan Tech Wildland Fire Club and a group from Superior National Bank helped to finish the trail. This site is a testament to collaboration and the generosity of our community!

Planning your visit

Just north of Hancock, visitors will turn off of highway 41 onto Pontiac road, before turning onto Boston Cross Cut Road. Look for the large sign that marks the Nature area on the south side of the road. There you will find a small parking area that can accommodate about three cars. The trailhead is located at the south end of the parking area.

After an initial switchbacked descent into the creek valley, the trail meanders along the creek and through the forest creating a loop that terminates back at the trailhead.
