More detailsSteve Farm Nature Area at Lovell Creek
This nature area was once home to the Steve family farm to grow food and in the 1930's a commercial gladiolus industry. It now is home to a beaver pond, old fields and upland forests available for public enjoyment year round! The property is broken into three distinct thirds, each with its own unique habitat types. The northern third is primarily made up of mixed hard and softwoods and has reportedly not been logged for decades. Large maples and aspen dot the landscape, as well as occasional stands of white pine and hemlock. The northeastern part of the property has small hillocks and is well drained. Moving westward, the northern third becomes both wetter and flatter, featuring many vernal pools, swampy portions, and other evidence of standing water.
