Spring – On the Wing: World Migratory Bird Day Mini-Festival

A coalition of local organizations have come together to bring you Spring – On the Wing! This mini-festival, in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, supports the City of Houghton's efforts to become a Bird City. 

Event Schedule

7:00–9:00 am

Early bird walk (Nara Nature Boardwalk)

9:30–11:00 am

Bird Banding Experience (location TBD)

11:00 am–2:00 pm

“Stopover” Community Space opens (Huron Street Waterfront Park)

• Bird City information table (Visit Keweenaw)

• Local conservation organizations (e.g., CCBC, KLT, KBREC, etc…)

• “Try binoculars / spotting scope” station

• Kids’ bird activity table

3:00–4:00 pm

Public talk/featured program about birds (Portage Lake District Library)

“Birds and Brews” (Keweenaw Brewing Company)

This event is organized by representatives from the Keweenaw Land Trust, Copper Country Bird Club, Keweenaw Wild Bird Rescue, Visit Keweenaw, KISMA, Michigan Technological University, Keweenaw Wild Ones, Keweenaw Community Forest Company, City of Houghton, The Nature Conservancy
