Highlights

Bare ancient conglomerate rocks rise from the shoreline below steep, forested dunes that make standing up straight difficult!  Access to the lake is not possible until a dune stabilization project provides  access that will protect the fragile and highly erodible dune.  Heading inland, the sand dunes level out in a catchment basin forested wetland studded with vernal pools, stately white pines and stands of mature hemlocks with a diverse understory of native plants. There are currently no marked trails established on the property.

Planning your visit

Day use only, no camping or fire, keep dogs under control and carry out trash.  The stretch of shoreline is best enjoyed by paddling from another launch site in safe conditions.  You can park and wander on the inland side of the property until a marked trail might be established. Avoid eroding fragile dunes and trampling sensitive vegetation. Please stay off steep dune.  Dune stabilization project for visitors to proceed to lakeshore without eroding sensitive dune and vegetation.

Why this place is special

Wooded sand dunes and forested wetlands are a magical place to explore and to observe native wildlife and birds.
