Mike Abbott

After a service-oriented 40-year career at Michigan Tech, Mike can often be found exploring the Keweenaw's landscape, usually on bicycle or cross-country skis.  A wildlife biologist by training, Mike enjoys sharing outdoor adventures with his children, grandchildren and friends.  At home, in rural Atlantic Mine, care and maintenance of nearly 80 acres occupies much of Mike's time.  A DIY solar array that supplies more than half of the home's electrical power is one recently completed project.  Mike volunteers in the Nordic ski and mountain bike racing communities and as a medical transport driver for Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.  Protecting and preserving public access for the enjoyment of everyone through the work of KLT is one of Mike's highest priorities.  "It's just the right thing to do."
