The Keweenaw Land Trust and the Copper Country Community Arts Center are jointly offering a series of four relaxed exploration and sketching outings at different KLT properties this summer. Each session will start with a stroll to learn about features of the site, followed by a guided sketching exercise designed to help participants cultivate the familiar experience of looking into engaged and active seeing. All drawing levels are welcome, and beginners are encouraged.
•May – on your own - warm up your drawing skills with a simple sketch & bring with you to your first session to share if you wish.
•June 10th @ Boston Pond –Explore the pond and adjacent wetlands along the floating dock and quarter mile trail. The pavilion has picnic tables and benches we can use for this exercise.
•July 8th @ Point Mills – Not yet open to the public get a sneak peak of this new acquisition which is an intriguing combination of mining ruins and reclamation by nature.
•August 12th @ Lake Glazon – 8 miles N of Eagle Harbor this rugged conglomerate beach and sweeping Lake Superior Views fight for your attention with diminutive, yet tough-as-nails plants eeking out a living on this rocky shore.
•September 9th @ Point of View – the drive to the Pt. Abbaye peninsula is rewarded with this bedrock beach overlook and the inviting cabin in the woods.

➢Each session will begin at 6pm and last about one and a half hours. Registrants will be sent directions and details the week before.
➢If you have your own drawing supplies you may bring them, however we will have supplies on hand.
➢Dress for weather, we will notify registrants of rain dates. These events are free, but donations would be appreciated and will be split evenly between these two community non-profit organizations.
