The overarching goal of the Lake Superior Land Trust
Partnership (LSLTP) is to protect our shared land
and water resources in the Lake Superior Basin by
strengthening the capacity and coordination of the
land conservation community. This Partnership works
to:
-
Identify
and actively protect important natural and
scenic areas around the Basin
-
Leverage resources for increased land protection
-
Facilitate land protection information/data
sharing among public and private organizations
-
Communicate the benefits of land conservation
and foster awareness of conservation options
-
Create an informed and effective land trust
partnership to share talents, tools and
knowledge in ways that benefit all member
organizations
-
Undertake projects in areas not served by a land
trust
Keweenaw Land Trust was a founding member of the
LSLTP and is committed to the goals of the
Partnership. To help people learn more about the
work and value of land trusts, the LSLTP produced an
outreach publication called In their Own Voices:
Land Conservation in the Lake Superior Basin. This
collection of stories explains how private
landowners have worked with conservation
organizations to accomplish important projects in
the Lake Superior Basin, as told by the people
directly involved. This series of publications
explain the benefits and outcomes of bequests,
conservation easement donations, land donations,
working forest easements on commercial forestland,
bargain sale of land, and retained life estates. If
you are a landowner who would like to learn more
about how you might conserve your land from others
who have already done so, please
contact us to request the
In their Own Voices packet.
