I
work as a Business Manager for Affinicore, Inc., a
Houston, TX based IT Consulting company that my
husband and his partner started in 2001. Internet
connectivity and applications allow me to work from
our home in Houghton. I also provide consultation
services for local organizations regarding IT
expenditures and internet services.
There are many things I love about the Keweenaw. I
love the clean air and crisp blue skies. I love the
cold, clear water of Lake Superior. I love the
geology and rich history. I love the fact that we
have 4 seasons and that the Keweenaw humbles me
every winter. I love the forests and all the
wildlife. Most of all, I love living here because it
feels like home, and that is a powerful feeling.
I enjoy winter photography of Lake Superior ice,
snowshoeing in the forests, gardening, rock
hounding, hiking, exploring old mines, and swimming
in the big lake. But, what I enjoy most of all is
spending time with my dogs in the woods enjoying the
birds and the trees.
I mentioned previously that I love the Keweenaw
because it feels like home. I think a lot of people
anymore have lost or forgotten what that means. When
you just exist in a place you don't really
appreciate what's around you. It's different when
you live in a place you truly feel at home in. You
start to notice everything around you. Not just the
big changes, you notice even the smallest changes.
Change is inevitable and should be embraced with
caution and understanding. The Copper Country is a
place of immense beauty, rich history, diverse
wildlife, open spaces, and clean air. Because of all
of this I am at home here and have a heartfelt
desire to protect my home.
I joined the KLT Board of Directors so I could
become more involved in protecting open spaces and
the natural lake shores of the Keweenaw. Doing
business in todays world requires information
technology. Providing the KLT with equipment,
expertise, and support of information technology is
one of my main goals.
