I
am a retired physician and a past Supervisor of
Eagle Harbor Township. I am presently member of the
Eagle Harbor Township Planning Commission and the
Eagle Harbor Township Parks Sub-Committee
The Keweenaw is special to me because there is
something new and wonderful in the beauty and
variety of the outdoors and the people of the
Keweenaw every day. Living here is an ever changing
and progressing spiritual experience for me. I think
that may be true for a lot of people - it's the
indefinable reason I love to live here and I hope
that experience can continue for future generations.
I enjoy the wonders of the vast resources and
natural beauty through walking and hiking, birds and
learning endlessly about wild mushrooms and
hopefully finding many edible varieties. I used to
do a lot of hunting and fishing but more and more I
find my other activities more accessible and
enjoyable now.
I want to help protect land in the Copper Country so
that these resources will be here to provide for
life needs for all and the enjoyment of the wonders
of the Copper Country for future generations.
I decided to joint the KLT board of Directors
because I have been intrigued and in agreement with
the mission and successes of the Keweenaw Land Trust
which are so important to me. I hope I've gotten a
little smarter as time has gone by so that I can
help to contribute to the great work this
organization and its dedicated members and staff
have accomplished and are planning for the future. I
am especially impressed now with the progress being
made through schools, organizations such as the
Keweenaw Land Trust and others to provide for the
educational process to involve students of all ages
in the outdoors and what is going on in the natural
world around them.
I bring a dedicated love and calling for the
outdoors especially in the Keweenaw, which has
become unwavering as time has gone by. I have a life
history of family and friends and authors
encouraging observation of what is going on in
nature, and a long and varied experience with
administrative and organizational skills. I like to
focus on looking ahead and keeping an eye on the big
picture to help guide our future.
