Keren Tischler

I have primarily worked as a biologist for a local non-profit organization focusing on common loon research and conservation in the Upper Peninsula, including the Ottawa National Forest and Isle Royale National Park.

While it was Isle Royale that brought me to the Keweenaw nearly 15 years ago, I remain here due to a connection to this place, the relationship that other people have to this place and their history here, and thus, the common ground and sense of community Iíve discovered here.

I feel fortunate for the many and varied opportunities to experience the beauty and wonder of the Keweenaw in all seasons, whether hiking, birding, foraging, skiing, paddling, commuting on my bicycle or simply observing. I view land protection as a necessary element for a sustainable future.

The KLT plays an important role in making sure the place we call home continues to support, teach and enrich us into the future. I have supported the mission of the KLT as a member, volunteer and partner in the Inland Lakes Initiative. As a board member, I will help the KLT fulfill its mission by focusing on governance and accountability, education and outreach.
