Clay Hixson

Clay was born and raised in the heart of the Keweenaw, growing up in the Lake Linden area and is now a resident of Calumet. Clay's love for the local area/outdoors began early in life as part of a local Boy Scout troop where camping, fishing, hiking, and canoeing were part of being a Northern Michigan kid. This love continues to this day as Clay spends his free time enjoying all that the local area offers year around, from kayaking on Lake Superior, to hiking, biking, snowshoeing and skiing. Clay makes sure to take advantage of all the wonderful natural opportunities the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer and his passion for the area has led him to want to help to work to preserve more of the local land for generations to come.

Clay is presently a Postal Carrier with the US Postal Service and through this work has become accustomed to community activism. He is the head of the local post carriers union and had directed the yearly Postal Carrier Food Drive many times. Clay's youth was spent exploring all the natural beauty of the pristine area and it's his desire to work to ensure that these same opportunities are afforded to those lucky enough to call the Keweenaw Peninsula home and those that are fortunate enough to visit.
