Dave Bach
I
am retired building contractor and a part time
instructor in Michigan Tech's School of Technology
construction management program. I teach
construction materials & methods using a building
science approach with a strong emphasis on
sustainability in the built environment.
The Keweenaw is my home in every sense of the word.
The land and people envelop me in their beauty,
their connectedness. I feel privileged to live here,
to be part of so wild and wonderful a place. If
there is a heaven, it must be pretty much like the
Keweenaw.
I enjoy exploring the natural wonder of this
fascinating place using skis and paddle, boot and
bike. I don't mind birding, botanizing, and geology
either. And it can be all the more fun going with
like-minded friends.
I protect what I love and that is why I want to help
protect land in the Copper Country.
The KLT is a growing group of people who have a very
respectful attitude toward the natural landscape.
It's time for me to do my share in advancing this
attitude. And it makes me feel good knowing that my
efforts today will have positive and far-reaching
future effects.
Because I know the land on which we tread, I am an
asset to the KLT. I also bring to the table my
schooling and experience in ecology. But probably my
biggest asset is the same as anyone else's- the
desire to take action on something we strongly
believe in, an idea, a spark of hope, and watch it
prosper and do good.
