Feb. 2009 - KLT Outings - Snowshoe and Ski February 21, 2009 starting at 3:00PM
|
 |
The Keweenaw Land Trust invites you to join us in some winter fun as a part of our new year-round Outings -- fun and informal guided explorations on KLT lands.
Saturday February 21
3:00 p.m. -- join guides Sue Ellen Kingsley, Mark Roberts, and Jim Belote for a back-country or trail cross-country ski OR a snowshoe hike at CHURNING RAPIDS -- meet at M-203 and Christensen Road at 3:00PM (about 4 miles from Hancock) or carpool from the American Legion Hall by about 2:45PM.
5:30 - 8:30 p.m. -- potluck dinner with music at the AMERICAN LEGION HALL, 1320 W Quincy in Hancock (on M203 not far past the US-41 intersection). Bring your own tableware and a dish to pass.
Music provided by Rhythm 203 (Sue Ellen's band), KLT's own Curtis Perala (our resident Property Manager at the Marsin Center) on keyboards and accordian, and SPECIAL GUEST GREG MERKLE -- an amazing solo acoustic guitarist.
"Greg is a guitar virtuoso who performs his own remarkable compositions. His dizzying finger-tapping style is intricately technical yet intrinsically beautiful. Greg enjoys a cult-like following in his native New Jersey and has opened for musicians like Taj Mahal, Iris Dement, and Johnny Cash." We're so lucky that besides music, he's hooked on visits to the Keweenaw!
It's all FREE (but donations to help cover the cost of renting the hall would be appreciated)
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!
Also, look forward to an ice fishing Outing for kids at the Marsin Nature Retreat Center with hot cocoa by the fire on Sunday, March 15 -- a week after the Great Bear Chase -- with Scott Pugh. Check back.
