Oct. 2008 - Salamanders at Paavola Wetlands
Hancock Middle School Science Project
This project is being conducted by Hancock Middle School students in partnership with Keweenaw Land Trust. Salamanders belong to the class of animals called amphibians, and their presence indicates the health of a wetland or woodland habitat. Two common species of salamanders found in Michigan are the Blue-spotted Salamander and the Red-backed Salamander. We hope to find these salamanders at Paavola Wetland!
