July 2008 - Paavola Wetlands Trail Reroute

A short section of the Pond Overlook Trail near the parking area trailhead at the Paavola Wetlands Preserve has been rerouted to avoid some persistent wet trail conditions. The new section of trail is clearly marked and joins into the former trail before the first intersection. Jim Belote, Paavola Wetlands Steward, and Pat Toczydlowski, KLT staff, took a trail building workshop early this summer taught by Doug Boose who led trail crews on Isle Royale for a number of years. The trails are in full greenery and full of bird life so enjoy a hike some day soon. Jim has been mapping features of interest at the Preserve, and further trail enhancements are planned.
