Leave No Trace Trainer Course
March 17-18, 2018 at the Marsin Nature Retreat
Unfortunately this event had to be canceled due to the Traveling Trainers being unable to make the trip to the Keweenaw! Be on the lookout for future Leave No Trace training events in the future.

The Keweenaw Land Trust is teaming up with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics to host a 2-day Leave No Trace Trainer Course to teach individuals the ins and outs of the Leave No Trace minimum impact campaign. The Trainer Course emphasizes skills and techniques essential to both teaching and practicing Leave No Trace and is an excellent opportunity for those who want to deepen their understanding of the science behind the Seven Principles. Through lectures, discussion, interactive activities, and a two-day outing, this course will give participants tools and techniques to further define their outdoor ethic, while learning Leave No Trace skills they can pass along to others.

Course runs from 9:00 AM on Saturday March 17 through 4:00 PM on Sunday March 18

Curriculum & Accommodations: The Trainer Course includes 16 hours of experiential instruction, to be held at the Marsin Nature Retreat outside of Houghton, MI. Camping is encouraged but not required. Indoor overnight accommodations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Course Costs: $85 per person. Includes dinner on Day 1, breakfast and lunch on Day 2, education materials for the course, and a one year membership to Leave No Trace ($50 value).

Participant-Led Teaching Session: Graduates of the Trainer Course are equipped to teach others the Leave No Trace Seven Principles through Awareness Workshops of any length. In order to better equip Trainers to meet this expectation, each participant will teach one 5-10 minute long lesson during this Leave No Trace Trainer Course. This provides a hands-on learning experience and the chance to practice Leave No Trace teaching strategies in a supportive, educational environment.

Course Completion: Upon successful completion of a Leave No Trace Trainer Course, each participant will become a Leave No Trace Trainer and receive a completion certificate from the Center. Successful completion of the course requires participation in all course activities and teaching exercises.

Registration: To register for the course, contact Nathan Miller at the Keweenaw Land Trust by email or phone at (906) 482-0820. Space is limited to 12 participants register early to reserve your place! Once you have confirmed your registration, please send your $85/person payment to:
