Register for the 2017 Lake Superior Plant Identification Workshops
To be held on Isle Royale and across the Keweenaw Peninsula
Registration is now open for two 2017 Plant Identification workshops, both of which will be held in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula near the shores of scenic Lake Superior. Locations and dates are as follows:

1. Isle Royale National Park (June 5-10), based at Rock Harbor. This will be the 13th Plant I.D. workshop sponsored by the Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association (IRKPA) that will be taught in Isle Royale National Park. Fee is US$699 ($25 discount for IRKPA members). In addition to 3 days of instruction, the fee includes all meals from Tuesday lunch through Saturday lunch, transportation to/from Houghton via the National Park Service ferry Ranger III, camping in a group campsite, park fees, and two IRKPA publications.

2. Keweenaw Peninsula (July 25-27), based in Copper Harbor, Michigan's northernmost village. This will be the first year that an IRKPA-sponsored plant I.D. workshop will be offered in the Keweenaw, a picturesque peninsula on Michigan's Upper Peninsula that juts out into Lake Superior. Fee is US$375 ($25 discount for IRKPA members).

This is an excellent chance to visit a remote and wild portion of the northernmost part of Michigan near Lake Superior and learn the flora of the area at the same time. Both of these workshop locations feature rugged bedrock shorelines, ridges (with amazing views!), forests, and wetlands, which provide diverse habitat for numerous plant species, including boreal species and rare arctic disjuncts.

If you have questions or would like more information on either of these workshops, please contact Janet Marr at or phone (906) 337-5529.
